The Cultural Mecca of the United States: The Wisconsin Dells
I think I have misstated that Wisconsin Dells is a cultural Mecca. I think a more appropriate term would be cultural wasteland. Where else can you go and be treated to literally hundreds of theme parks, water shows, and wax museums featuring legends such as Wayne Newton and Donny Osmond.
Nevertheless, I continue to go back - for the third time this year - to spend plenty of money !
In reality, if you go to a good hotel, then the Dells can be a lot of fun if you have a bunch of little people to watch after and you need to stay inside. For that reason, I like the Dells in the winter much more than the summer. Since Parker, Trevor, and Jasmine are too little to go snowmobiling and have not learned how to ski, Jocelyn and I decided to take a weekend to the Great Wolf Lodge. (The Great Wolfe Lodge was formally known as the Black Wolf Lodge until they changed their name this year.)
We also took Andrew and Alex (Jocelyn's brothers) since they really like the indoor water parks. Also, both Alex and Andrew can be a lot of help watching the little people which makes the weekend certainly more enjoyable.
Here are a few pictures from our trip to the Dells:
We took our new Chevy 2500 Suburban. The "Big Hauler" has lots of room and features a VCR to make the road trips a little easier. The temperature was about 5 degrees above zero when we left.
Alex and Andrew were really excited !
Jasmine slept most of the way to the Dells while the rest of us watched a movie.
Jocelyn and Parker were very happy once the ride was over !
Our loft. A warm and cozy room.
The Great Wolfe Lodge is a real nice hotel that is a great place to stay in the winter
