The Avalon Park Wolves 12u team opened the season against the Bad Boys.  The temperature was 90+ degrees, the sun was shining, and there was about 100% humidity.  Sounds like a great day for baseball !

The game was hard fought by both sides.  While the result was not what we had in mind to open the season, there were several highlights including a blast to left center field by Kevin for our first home run of the year !!!

Coach Gonzo said in the post game interview, ”We worked on a lot of things this afternoon.  We saw a bunch of areas we need to improve, but also some areas where we saw some real success.  Hitting certainly needs to improve as do our cut offs.  The pitching went well.  We just need to make consistent plays to keep our pitch count low.”

The Wolves will play a combination of tournaments and double headers this season. The benefit of double headers is that make it easy to move players around without the added pressure of “must win now” that we have in tournaments.

Afterword, the team went over the Orlando Ale House in Waterford Lakes for some much deserved time in the cool indoors.
