In a perfect way to end the season, the Oviedo Thunder captured first place in the AAA division at the Kissimmee Shootout.  In what could only be described as an amazing team effort, our boys showed how far they have advanced.

“I could not have been prouder of my boys.  We demonstrated a total team victory. Every player contributed on the field, at bat, and even keeping our sprits up early on in the championship game. What a game !”

The champion game was indeed a classic showdown.  The Thunder found themselves down by three runs on two different occasions. Each time, our boys put together the right combination of hits, aggressive base running, and capitalizing on some good luck.  The Lakeland Golden Eagles fought hard throughout the game and even went ahead in the 6th inning.  As the rain poured down, the Thunder  came back with 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th.

If you look closely at all of these photos, you can just feel the pure excitement and joy our boys experienced.  Giant smiles, bright eyes, high fives and hugs were shared between all of the players.  I am sure this moment will be treasured by parents and kids alike for years to come.

It was, indeed, the perfect way to end the spring 2008 season !
