Disney New Years Day Classic Tournament

It’s the journey, not the destination that is most important.  The Avalon Park Wolves played an impressive week of baseball at the Disney New Years Day Classic.   Our boys got to play 6 games over a 4 day period in the finest baseball facility south of the Mason-Dixon line.   And we had a great time !    Every boy got lots of playing time and swings at the bat.  Also, parents, kids, and players alike spent lots of time together and formed many lasting memories and bonds.

Overall, our team finished second to MVP.  MVP was a collection of players from 4 different teams (one of them coming from over 200 miles away) whereas our boys all live in East Orlando.  We played 6 games and won 4 of them - including a solid win against MVP.   We lost the final in a 9-8 thriller in 7 innings (including a few extremely questionable calls).   Our boys and parents alike took the disappointment with a great deal of class and recognized that we won the hearts and minds of many of the parents watching the game from other teams.  In fact, the entire Arizona team watched and rooted for our team !

We also had a great time and will likely be invited back should the Disney organization request our services.  In short, we played hard and we played with class.

Here are a few pictures from the event.  More will be posted when I receive them.
