EOLL All Stars Tarnish “Golden” Rod

East Orange Earns Birth Into Semi Finals

The East Orange All Stars played hard against an overmatched Golden Rod Team.  In a consistent display of hitting and fielding, the East Orange All Stars won 16-0.  While many managers and coaches would gloat and celebrate the lob-sided victory, Manager Rich took the opportunity as a learning experience in a 20 minute post game meeting.

“We hit the ball, but let’s be honest.  We hit lot of ground balls into the infield.  Golden Rod simply did not make the plays needed to get outs,” said Coach Rich. “I spoke to each one of the kids individually. Everyone needs to focus on hitting line drives into the field.  When we hit the balls into the open areas of the field, combined with solid fielding and base running, we will be just fine.”

The character of our kids came through since after the game they were both happy and at the same time they knew the next few games would be harder.  Many of them made immediate requests to their father’s to set aside time to work on soft toss. Our kids know they have the potential to take it all !

Author’s Note: I was only able to take a few pictures of the game.
