Thunder Beat Melbourne

The Oveido Thunder showed a great deal of strength over the past two weeks. Coming off of a 3rd place showing in the Winter Springs Tournament, the Thunder played both a home and away series in consecutive weeks.  The first game was an offensive power showing by a 16-1 victory  The Thunder played typical small ball and hit consistently through the game.  “We hit the ball very well !” remarked Coach Jim.  “After we got through their first pitcher, our boys really made a lot of contact with the ball.”

In the second match up, Coach Jim returned the team to Melbourne.  This game was designed to be a learning experience for the entire team. “I wanted to prepare the kids for road games and playing on a unfamiliar field. I also wanted the kids to play a lot of different positions.”  The Oviedo Thunder came through by playing near flawless defense and won the game 15-3.

“We did not have any errors in the second game.  I was very proud how we played defense !”
